乙琥胺化学名为3-甲基-3-乙基-2,5-吡咯烷二酮,为白色至微黄色蜡状固体;几乎无臭,味微苦;有引湿性。在乙醇或三氯甲烷中极易溶解,在水中易溶。常用于失神发作。治疗癫痫小发作。

生产方法和用途
用途 是一类较新的抗癫痫药,主要用于癫痫小发作。毒性较小,效果好,为小发作的首选药,应用较普遍。乙琥胺能加重大发作,因此对混有大发作有病人,该品不能单独使用,必须和苯马比妥或苯妥英纳合用。
生产方法 由2-乙基-2-甲基丁二酸用氨水环合而得。将氨水(20%)加入2-乙基-2-甲基丁二酸,至pH为10以上。加热至200-220℃,反应20min。冷至50℃以下,加入氯仿。过滤,滤饼经氯仿洗涤后弃去合并洗、滤液,分取氯仿层。回收氯仿后减压蒸馏,收集150-160℃(2.13kPa)馏分,得乙琥胺。
